We are all very different, but the love of music unites our differences. Music is a universal language that transcends different forms.
A few hundred years before Christ, the Natyashastra treatise described the jati system, which is the ancestor of Indian classical music. In the fourth-century treatise Brihaddeshi, we already find the term 'rāga', which refers to the system of melodies and harmonies of this music. Translated from Sanskrit, rāga means 'that which colours the mind'.
With very old and deep roots and a lively traditional lineage, Indian classical music remains alive and very relevant to people today. It is performed in concerts all over the world and is taught in some of the world's leading universities.
Our mission is to promote and represent Indian classical music in Lithuania.
